In a conversation with Street of Chaos lead developer, Eduardo Bonfandini, it was revealed that his upcoming game will also come to the Sega Genesis. The game, which is currently being developed for PCs, can be easily modified and ported to Sega’s 16-bit machine, according to Eduardo.
In this talk, Eduardo told me that, while both versions will be developed in parallel, he will give extra attention to the Genesis version. The idea behind this is to release both versions not too far apart from each other.
According to Eduardo:
“It is a straightforward process to port the game to the Mega Drive. First of all, the game’s code is all ready. Additionally, all the logic, color restriction, and creative decisions made for the game were made with the Mega Drive in mind. Although the current version isn’t a Mega Drive version, it was conceived to become one in the future, considering the console’s limitation, that is. Another important thing is the team’s familiarity with the hardware. We already have a prototype running on the hardware, so it won’t be a huge task.”
While this can be considered a bit unexpected, new releases for old consoles are very sought out by fans, so his decision is understandable. The developer is planning to have a complete physical release at some point in the future. The version will come complete with a full-color manual, but there is other stuff planned. What this could be, he did not reveal “Wait and see”, I was told.
So far, there’s little to be shown, except for the prototype mentioned by Eduardo. Additionally, the developer said that more content will come soon, so you can already get excited.
