Released by Taito in 1991, Warrior’s Blade: Rastan Saga Episode 3 is the final episode from a Saga that never happened. Despite being the third game in the series, Warrior’s Blade is a stand-alone game, so you don’t need to play the other two to understand this one. And honestly, this has ever happened to a beat ’em up? The story is pretty simple here, Rastan, our “hero” wants to plunder some lands and become king. That’s it. Plain, simple, and extremely greedy.
When it comes to gameplay Rastan Saga 3 is pretty versatile. You have 3 characters to choose from, and while you have only 3 buttons (jump, attack, and desperation), you can perform different attacks by combining jump and/or your directional. The game also offers branched paths that will open up as you play the game, with some of them hidden from you until you meet some requirements.
Overall, Rastan Saga 3 is a pretty fun beat ’em up, with huge sprites, fun combat, and lots of levels to find! The game can be a bit easier for veterans, but there are enough here to grant some moments of fun for you and a friend. With great graphics, and excellent music, Warrior’s Blade: Rastan Saga 3 may not be as amazing as the games put out by Capcom or Konami, but undoubtedly, it’s loads of fun.
